Hand loomed Organic Wool Blankets - A Rare Find!
Stay warm and cozy during those cold winter nights with a one of a kind Swans Island Blanket. Swans Island began making hand loomed blankets in the early 1990's and was recognized nationally when it was awarded the prestigious Smithsonian Blue Ribbon for Craft in 1996. They have since been leading the way, producing authentic heirloom wool blankets of unsurpassed quality for customers around the world.
It is the company's uncompromising commitment to its founding principles of:
that sets it apart as it goes above and beyond to create a truly unique and special product.
Each Swans Island blanket is hand crafted by local highly skilled artisans, using traditional time honored techniques. The company carefully selects its wool, useing pure fine grade organic merino wool as well as blends of local sustainable wool. The wool is carefully washed with organic soap to maintain a higher level of lanolin, which ensures a wool that is softer to the touch. The dyes used are natural eco dyes and in some cases a blend of undyed wool provides natural color hues.
The end result is a beautiful lasting product that is sure to become a treasured keepsake and will be passed down for generations to come, as it brings with it, the stories of our lives.
Our Swans Island Blankets are a winter weave, which means there are two layers of wool to ensure warmth during the cold winter months. They can also be monogrammed for a more personal touch, and come beautifully packaged in a keepsake linen bag with cedar slats. Blankets normally ship within 7 to 14 days.
Sizes: All are available in either Double/Queen (90" x 90") or King (110" x 90") and most are also available in twin (70" x 90")

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR BLANKET: There are 3 ways to care for your throw.
At Home: Use an organic soap suitable for wool. In a top-loading washer, soak and spin, but do not agitate, your item. Dry flat; block out to maintain shape. Do not hang over a line to dry. Do not place in a dryer.
Swans Island: Items can be sent to Swans Island for laundering. Swans Island uses organic soap, block, air dry, press and then returns it to you.
Professional Cleaner: Use a reputable dry cleaner. The industry claims that their chemicals do not harm woolen products.
